Every year, the ValidNMR committee selects a new fellow by open application. The mission of the NMR Validation Fellow is to provide education and awareness in NMR Validation through fostering communication and progress in the community.

How to apply?

To be considered for this Fellowship, please send 2 letters of recommendation, a CV and a Short Description of Expertise with a focus on building a scientific digital presence (500 words or less) to the ValidNMR committee (committee(at)validnmr.com).

Who should apply?

  • Must be a current student or postdoctoral fellow, in academic and/or industrial appointments.
  • A demonstrated interest in analytical chemistry, preferably focused on NMR spectroscopy and/or method validation.
  • A working knowledge of website administration and design, maintenance and support.
  • An understanding of the various social media platforms, and how to use them for disseminating appropriate information.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.
  • Well-developed organizational skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Applicants with experience using WordPress would be preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Web Presence
    • Maintain www.validnmr.com
      • Gather, organize and upload information regarding recent/past events in the community
      • Assist with building a References section and keep it updated with relevant links and information
    •  Maintain the NMR Validation Wiki-based website to serve as the center point for the  NMR Validation group and editorial boards from the PANIC Validation Workshop
      • Update information that a ‘newcomer’ would need to know
      • Maintain contact with each portal chair by checking in on their group and progress
    • Create and post surveys to determine perceived status, gaps and desired information, to be posted on the webpage, Wiki and/or in the newsletter
    • Create functionality on website to maintain email list subscriptions (subscribe/unsubscribe)
  • Education Campaign Coordinator
    •  Work closely with the PANIC Committee to create a Quarterly Newsletter (pdf)
      • Reach out to people within the community/contact list and sponsors to submit and present current topics
      • Help to create and execute a Survey to elucidate topics for the newsletter
    • Assist with building a reference section and keep it updated with relevant links and information
      • Perform literature and web surveys on a regular basis
      • Compile abstracts and highlights of relevant papers
  • Administration of LinkedIn NMR Validation group
    • Distribution of news
    • Repost other valuable posts
    • Manage cross-posting on the PANIC LinkedIn group
  • Reporter of NMR validation progress and concerns
    • Attend the PANIC conference. Additional conferences may be added if funding/time is available
    • Assist in the setup of and facilitate the PANIC Validation Workshop
    • Present summary of NMR validation group’s progress/concerns at the conferences
    • Act as Recording secretary (at the annual Workshop)
  • The expected work contribution averages to approximately 4 hours per week.
